Ali El-Chaer is a Palestinian-American artist from Nashville, TN (USA).

They received their BFA at Austin Peay State University and have featured works in Nashville, Clarksville, and New York.

Ali creates a discussion through mixed media processes on the colonization of land, body, mind, and spirit and uses intense interpersonal emotions to relate to others.

They are expanding their practices into the mutual aid realm by assembling care packages for the houseless and raising funds for folx locally and internationally.

During their residency, Ali collected secrets for a collaborative project with Art Dream Foundation.

As part of this project, Ali distributed (anonymously submitted) secrets randomly to people as part of an art piece named Washing.

This is only the first part of a two part piece, where the artist invited the viewer to open up and let someone else take care of them by washing their hands. The reason for sharing secrets is to alleviate pain but to do this you must rely on someone else.
