Dukë Aslani (b. 1997, Zurich, Switzerland) makes installations, photos, mixed-media art and video. By emphasising aesthetics, his installations often reference queerness as well as the avant-garde, the post-modern and the left-wing movement as a form of resistance against the logic of the capitalist system. Using vibrant colours often combined with vintage technology, he creates a situation in which the viewer is confronted with the oppressive heteronormative and xenophobic societies. His works also demonstrate how life extends beyond its own subjective limit and often tells stories and experiences about growing up as a queer child of Kosovar migrants in Switzerland.
