There are so many reasons we keep secrets and deny ourselves the ability to be vulnerable. We may have discovered at some point in our lives people aren't permanent fixtures, not everyone is trustworthy, or the truth does not always set us free and from those experiences, we learn to bottle up our hearts.
Artist Ali El-Chaer wants to invite you to anonymously submit a secret. It doesn't matter how big or small. He is not going to collect names, emails, or any identifying factor. He is not going to try and figure out who you are, what you do, or your motivations. He is simply asking you to set the weight of life down.
Ali is going to be distributing secrets randomly to people as part of an art piece.
(Again, this will be anonymous!)
This is part of a project called Washing, where the artist invites the viewer to open up and let someone else take care of them by washing their hands. The reason for sharing secrets is to alleviate pain but to do this you must rely on someone else.
